Connect your Gmail (and send from your own domain)
Updated 31 Oct 2026
Connect your Gmail or Outlook and your quotes, invoices and inbox replies go out from your real email address. It takes about a minute and it is one button.
How to connect
- Go to Settings → Email.
- Press Connect Gmail.
- Choose your Google account.
- Press Allow.
- You are back in CaterCloud. Press Send me a test email and check it arrives.
Use Outlook? Press Use Outlook instead and follow the same steps. You can connect one account for the whole business, and every teammate's customer email goes out from it.
What changes when you connect
- Customers see your own address, like jane@yourbusiness.com.au, with your business name on it.
- Everything you send from CaterCloud also lands in your Gmail Sent folder (Outlook: Sent Items).
- When a customer replies, the reply reaches both your CaterCloud Inbox and your own Gmail, so you can answer from either.
Business address on Google?
Is your Gmail on your own business domain, like you@yourbusiness.com.au? That works too. This is how you send from your own domain: customers see that address.
Is it safe?
CaterCloud only asks for permission to send email from your account. It cannot read, search, delete or change anything in your mailbox, and it never reads your Gmail. You can disconnect any time from Settings → Email and our access is deleted straight away.
What still comes from your CaterCloud address
Automatic messages, like reminders and follow-ups, still go from your free CaterCloud address (hello@yourbusiness.catercloud.io). If your connected account ever cannot send, CaterCloud sends from that address instead so nothing is lost.
Not on Gmail or Outlook?
Open Settings → Email → Advanced to use your own domain. The steps are in "Set up your email — and what is already done for you".
Common questions
Do I have to connect? No. Your CaterCloud address works from day one. Connecting just makes your email look like it comes straight from you.
I connected and the test email did not arrive. Check your spam folder first, then press Send me a test email again. If Settings → Email says your account stopped letting CaterCloud send, press Reconnect and allow it again.
Can I change the name customers see? For Gmail, yes. On Settings → Email, open Change the name customers see. By default it is your business name.
