Caterease alternatives

Looking at Caterease? Here is the honest comparison.

We make one of these, so read this knowing that. What we have not done is guess: every figure below is quoted from Caterease’s own published pages, with a link and the date we read it. Where they do not publish something, it says so rather than being filled in.

Pick them

When Caterease is the better choice

If one of these is you, they will serve you better than we will, and you should go and talk to them.

  • You want a very deep, very configurable feature set and have the time to set it up properly.

  • Your team is used to it — twenty-plus years of catering companies run on it, and switching costs are real.

  • You need a specific module from their catalogue that CaterCloud does not have.

Where we differ

What CaterCloud does that is genuinely different

The crew are free

A callout goes out as a text and your staff tap yes or no — no account, no app, no seat. Casual crew will never install software, and pricing that charges per user turns your roster into a bill.

It knows what the food costs

Quotes price against your ingredients and your overheads, and each event reports what it actually made. Most event software tracks what you charged; the harder question is what you kept.

It is built for a phone

The day, the money, the menus and the team are all designed for the device you actually have on you at a job, rather than a desktop screen shrunk down.

You can try it without talking to anyone

Free to start, and the widgets run in your browser before you sign up for anything.

Questions

What people ask when they are switching

What does Caterease cost?
Caterease publishes its prices, which is more than most in this category do: Express $99/mo, Standard $149/mo and Professional $199/mo, each billed annually, plus $28/mo per additional user and a one-time $200 launch fee per user. Check their pricing page for the current figures.
How is CaterCloud’s pricing different?
The shape differs more than the number. CaterCloud is flat monthly rather than per seat, with no launch fee, so putting your whole crew on it does not change the bill. On a per-user plan, a team of six costs meaningfully more than a team of one for the same jobs.
Is CaterCloud as fully featured as Caterease?
No, and it would be strange to claim otherwise about software that has been going for over twenty years. CaterCloud is narrower on purpose — availability, quoting against real food cost, deposits, crew and per-event profit. If you need a specific module from their catalogue, they will have it and we may not.
Can I try it before switching?
Yes. CaterCloud is free to start with no call required, and the widgets run in your browser before you create an account at all.
